First, make sure you close down Outlook 2016.

The good news is, we have a file that you can run on your local machine that will do this for you! No reboot is required. In order to get around this restriction, a Registry change is necessary. What it also did, however, is make it more difficult for people NOT using Office365 to set up their own EAS/Exchange email accounts. The purpose of this change was to make it easier for customers using their Office365 service to set up their accounts in Outlook 2016. If you have accounts already setup in an updated version of Outlook 2016 (.2079 dated September 12th), these will continue to work just fine.

And with Microsoft’s September 12th automatic update of Office 2016, they removed EAS functionality altogether.

That said, we’ve noticed that in the last few years Microsoft was reacting slower and slower to resolving issues related to EAS in Microsoft Outlook. In those cases, we worked with Microsoft.
